No crossed wires as 13SQN does the job

Members of No. 13 Squadron cleared almost 4km of fence line through thick trees and shrubbery during a challenging but rewarding two-week deployment at RAAF Base Curtin.

The Squadron split into dedicated small groups, working on airfield lighting, shed building, fuel tanker modifications and orderly room procedures.

Modifications were made to the 15,000-litre fuel tanker and runway repairs conducted to airfield lighting and distance marker frames.

Tasks were assessed in priority order and carried out together with Permanent Air Force members.

The work was done in hot, demanding conditions.

Twelve major tasks were completed by the teams on a trip that proved beneficial to squadron members working outside the comfort zones of original musterings.

Members of 13SQN gained an important understanding of how a bare base operates and were provided an opportunity to liaise with personnel at RAAF Base Curtin.

During the deployment, Warrant Officer Avin “Ace” Hoberg perfected the art of cooking with just about anything.
