Golfers aim to defend title

National Championships
THE Australian Defence Force Golf Association (ADFGA) National Championship Week of Golf will be held at Canberra’s Federal Golf Course from December 9-13 .

The tournament will comprise three events – a sponsors’ day and official practice round/welcome stableford on December 9, the ADFGA National Championships from December 10-13 and a women’s event from December 12-13.

The tournament is open to full-time uniformed personnel, but provisions will be made for Active Reservists and Department of Defence civilians subject to available places.

For entry forms contact tournament director Squadron Leader Trevor Owens at adfga@austarmetro.com.au or (02) 6266 0611.

Entries close on November 22 and late entries will not be accepted.
AIR Force will defend its title when the 2002 ACT Interservice (ISS) Golf Series tees off at Mollymook Golf Club later this year.

Air Force golfers can nominate to become part of the team of 12, which will try to hold on to the Chiefs of Staff Trophy the Air Force won at last year’s closely fought tournament.

All permanent members of the Air Force are eligible to nominate, and overseas personnel serving on full-time duty within Defence may be considered.

The ISS Golf Series is an annual scratch matchplay event involving teams from the Air Force, Navy and Army.

This year’s series will be held at Mollymook Golf Club on the New South Wales South Coast from October 28-November 1.

Although the event is scratch matchplay, Air Force golfers on handicaps up to 18 are encouraged to nominate.

E-mail nominations to Air Force representative Squadron Leader Trevor Owens at trevor.owens@cbr.defence.gov.au.

Inquiries can also be directed to Squadron Leader Owens on (02) 6266 0611.

Nomination details should include rank, name, service number, handicap, home club, contact phone number and shirt size.

Nominees will be advised of any team selection trials.

Under the current ACT ISS Charter, Reservists, Defence civilains and Defence contractors are inelgible to represent the single services.
