The Curse of the Jade Scorpion

Tedious and Unfunny
The Curse of the Jade Scorpion

Stars Woody Allen, Helen Hunt and Dan Aykroyd.
Roadshow Entertainment.
Rated G. 101mins.

Reviewer :: Ben Caddaye

When insurance investigator C.W. Briggs (Allen) and the one woman he can’t stand, work colleague Betty Ann Fitzgerald (Hunt), are hypnotised they not only fall in love, they begin committing crimes – crimes that they must solve.

Fans of Woody Allen films will love this quirky little romantic comedy, which was described by critics as one of Allen’s best in years.

Viewers who don’t like Allen’s neurotic ranting and raving will, however, find The Curse of the Jade Scorpion tedious, annoying and unfunny, like this reviewer did.

Allen dominates virtually every scene and his constant chattering and one-liners soon gave me a headache.

Hunt is worth watching and Aykroyd’s performance is solid rather than spectacular, but I’d only recommend this to die-hard Allen fans.
