Between commissioning HMAS Wollongong, conducting work up, performing Op Resolute patrols and visiting many Australian ports, it’s a wonder that the crew of Ardent Two (LCDR Mark Taylor) have the time to do anything else!

Fortunately, the crew has just handed over the reins of Wollongong to Ardent Six (LCDR Andrew Hawke) to commence their “off watch” time which is due to last until late October.

A reflection on their most recent cycle in Wollongong has shown the wide range of activities that Ardent Two have participated in over the past couple of months.

It all started with the Mariner Skills Evaluation and the voyage to Sydney, where the ship was commissioned.

The Commanding Officer, LCDR Mark Taylor said, “The commissioning ceremony alongside the Oil Wharf, Garden Island would have to have been the highlight! An enormous crowd turned out for the day and the weather in Sydney was glorious.”

Following a number of patrol duties and visits to various ports including Lord Howe Island, Ardent Two became the inaugural Armidale Class Patrol Boat (ACPB) to ever visit the port of Brisbane. Many of the crew are Brisbane natives and spent their time visiting family and exploring all that Brisbane had to offer.

After a further short OP Resolute patrol assignment, Ardent Two made their way back to Cairns to complete their on watch cycle and hand over Wollongong to the crew of Ardent Six.
