HMAS Gascoyne is going another round of Top End duties, recently returning to patrol northern waters as part of Op Resolute.

Following several successful patrols in 2006, Gascoyne returns to the top end to assist the Hunter crews of HMAS Huon in patrolling our northern approaches.

Commanding Officer of Gascoyne, Lieutenant Commander Bradley Vizard, said an essential catalyst to boosting the ship company’s morale is the ongoing fitness program.

“The boarding team stays fighting fit, taking part in fitness training sessions each morning and boxercise circuits each afternoon”, said Lieutenant Commander Vizard.

“The popularity of the exercise opportunity has ensured space on the sweepdeck is always at a premium.”

“Regular exercise ensures that the Gascoyne boarding team maintains a physical edge in the execution of their duties,” said Lieutenant Commander Vizard.

“The ship’s company has also adopted this fighting spirit in the Torres Strait, by sweating out a few intense rounds in the sweepdeck boxercise ring every day and maintaining a healthy lifestyle at sea.”
