Chance for dual honours

Volume 50, No. 16, September 06, 2007

Australian Defence Sports Triathlon Association members will be vying for dual honours at the ADSTA duathlon championship in Canberra on September 23.

The Defence titles will be staged in conjunction with the rescheduled Australian Duathlon Championships at Mount Stromlo.

The event is similar to a triathlon but does not contain a swimming leg.

Instead, it consists of a 10km run/40km ride/5km run and is open to all permanent or Reserve ADF members and Defence APS personnel.

All members wishing to be part of the Defence team must be a confirmed entrant for the cancelled event in Newcastle, or should complete an official entry form and make payment online for the rescheduled event.

Confirmed competitors from Newcastle will be offered free entry to the replacement race in Canberra.

Competitors who take advantage of this should contact (02)6257 2230 before race day. Otherwise, race entry is available from the events link on the website http://www.triathlonact.com.au/

All members participating should send a copy of the entry receipt and a completed ADSTA championship team application form to the new event coordinator by September 13 to be included in the Defence team.

It is compulsory for all supported ADSTA members to wear the ADSTA uniform.

Personnel are advised that they must be members of the ADSTA to receive the subsidised race entry fee, which will be paid at the event.

Membership of ADSTA is free to all Australian Defence Force members and Defence public servants.

A membership application can be found on the ADSTA website.

All enquiries and team applications can be sent to the new event coordinator, MAJ Kiaran Lomas, kiaran.lomas1@defence.gov.au or phone (02) 6266 5182.
