A foundation for a sound business partnership was laid on August 8 with the signing of an agreement for the provision of Navy Systems Command services to Fleet Command.
The overriding aim of the agreement, signed at NSC in Canberra, is to forge a flexible partnership which directs resources to best effect towards the Navy mission.
It provides the strategic framework for service level agreements between the two commands.
Commander Australian Fleet RADM Nigel Coates, who signed on behalf of Fleet said, “This is an important step forward in the development of the relationship between the two commands. It enables me to more clearly articulate my requirements for support to the Fleet.”
The CANSC, CDRE Peter Jones said, “The signing of this agreement is a major step in the maturing of the relationships between Fleet and Navy Systems Commands. It will help us monitor our performance and direct our resources to best support the Fleet.”
In establishing the agreement COMAUSFLT and CANSC undertake to work together in a constructive and collaborative manner to:
- facilitate the delivery of services through effective planning and clear communication of priorities and requirements.
- provide transparency of service delivery, through enhanced performance arrangements.
- provide Commander Australian Fleet with the opportunity to define requirements and associated evolving performance standards for the CANSC.
- recognise the contribution required from each party to achieve overall maintenance and improvement of COMAUSFLT’s short, medium and longer-term goals. - implement relevant Chief of Navy directives and other high-level directives.
