Do you hear there! - Keep up the feedback
Volume 50, No. 14, August 09, 2007 |

DGSCIT, CAPT Warren Bairstow, would like to take this opportunity to thank the 3400-odd Navy folk who attended some 125 presentations and discussion groups that made up the SCIT Roadshow from May 14 to July 4.
A comprehensive visit report (including recommendations and actions) has been crafted from the volumes of roadshow feedback received highlighting both common concerns and regional issues.
SCIT also welcomes LCDRs Gary Page (formerly NPTC-C) and Dina Kinsman (formerly DNWS) to the team as SO1SCIT looking after SCIMARS and Sea Change Workforce Renewal Project 10 – Improving Personnel Policy, Processes and Practices.
For the uninitiated, the Sea Change Implementation Management & Reporting System (SCIMARS) is a web-enabled database which provides Navy-wide visibility of Sea Change activities. SCIMARS has two primary functions:
1. SCIMARS is the tool for managing and reporting the progress of action items / initiatives that comprise the Sea Change Program.
Action Item Managers are asked to provide routine / ‘by exception’ reporting to maintain the currency of progress status. For example, to view the latest updates on the suite of activities under the Sea Change Workforce Renewal Project go to Key Area 8 in SCIMARS.
2. SCIMARS also provides the opportunity for Navy folk and family to ask questions, provide comments, concerns and ideas and most importantly, make a contribution.
It has proven to be a useful feedback mechanism on both Sea Change Action Items and issues affecting our people in general. At the time of drafting, SCIMARS had received 1174 items of feedback.
Please be assured, SCIT takes each and every feedback item seriously and we often rely on responsible authorities within and beyond Navy for answers. Sometimes this does take time.
Sea Change is not about replacing the established chain of command or the Divisional System. Personal issues that attempt to bypass ‘the system’ will be re-directed to your CO or your Divisional staff.
SCIMARS is accessible via links within the DRN and the internet www.navy.gov.au/npo/. SCIT encourages all readers to check SCIMARS regularly and to have your say.
