After more than 35 years in the RAN, CDRE Kevin Taylor has decided to put away his rugby boots, hang up his wetsuit along with his dragon Boating Paddle and put away the pictures of him as CO on Tobruk with the Gloucester Cup.
Recently, in the company of about 120 guests, CDF, CN and DCN farewelled CDRE Taylor, along with his wife Susan and children Andrea and Alexander, from the RAN at HMAS Harman in Canberra.
CN presented CDRE Taylor with tableau listing and recognising his service in the RAN.
DCN presented CDRE Taylor with a farewell gift from the National Clearance Divers Association recognising his many years of support and contribution to Clearance Diving in the RAN.
CDF presented CDRE Taylor with a certificate of appreciation as well for his outstanding support to Service Rugby particularly during his time as National President of the Australian Services Rugby Union.
CDRE Taylor served in HMA Ships Snipe, Curlew, Vampire, Parramatta, Penguin, and Tobruk and has also worked as a Defence Attaché for Southern Europe where he was responsible for Defence and Defence Industry relations with Italy, Turkey, Israel and Greece.
During his career, particularly during his time as Director of Sailors’ Career Management, CDRE Taylor was instrumental in introducing many positive initiatives concerning the management of sailors’ careers. |
