Silver Squad
The Australian Defence Squash Racquets Association sent nine players as part of the Australian Defence Organisation contingent to compete at the Arafura Games in Darwin.

Stepping stone
ACT and Wagga Service basketballers aspiring to national honours will get their chance by playing in the ACT/Wagga Interservice Basketball competition on July 28-29 in Canberra. A venue has yet to be confirmed but participants will be considered for the men’s and women’s ACT Combined Services teams to compete in the national championships in December at RAAF Base Wagga. Footy fray

The ADF Football Federation’s national titles in Sydney from November 1-10 could take on a new dimension this year with the inclusion of Defence APS teams. The Defence Australian Public Service Football Association (DAPSFA) is seeking interested players and officials to represent the Defence APS at the annual titles which until now have been a tri-Service event. The titles will be held at Sydney’s Melita Stadium in Parramatta and will cater for open men’s and women’s teams and men’s over 35’s. Accommodation and training facilities will be provided at Randwick Barracks in Sydney.

Recruits wanted
The 2007 National volleyball tournament is being held at Wodonga, NSW from October 27 to November 4. ADVA endeavours to send a men’s and women’s team to the Arafura Games every two years, and to New Zealand and England on the alternate years. Anyone interested in volleyball and who would like to be involved with the ADF team should go to www.adfva.org to find contact details for single Service or state representatives.
