The Fleet Air Arm is spreading its wings with six pilots about to commence loan postings with allied forces in the USA and the UK.
LEUTs Dan Ashbolt, Brad Donaldson, Martin Stiles and Ben Wenban are packing their bags for the USA to serve with the US Coast Guard flying HH-65 Dauphine and HH-60 JHawk helicopters, from four different USCG bases located on both the US east and west coasts. They will be involved in tasks as diverse as long-range search and rescue, border patrols, and smuggling interdiction.
LEUT Colin McLeod and SBLT Dave Tindall are headed to the UK to fly HC Mk 4 Commando Sea Kings with the RN. They will be involved in night vision goggle flying and Amphibious operations off multi spot flight decks. They may also see operational service supporting the British Royal Marines in Iraq or Afghanistan.
Their postings are important elements of building future capability and will strengthen Navy and Fleet Air Arm capability by broadening and deepening the experience base of our aviators, assisting in regenerating our workforce and by building a network of relationships with allied aviation forces. |
