Late last year, the RANRTF trialled what proved to be a very successful Christmas Loan program. Regrettably for some, the popularity of the offer proved to be too great with more than 1300 loans being made, which meant the program had to be closed earlier than originally anticipated. The success of this program can be gauged by the very positive responses provided to a follow-up email survey which has been passed to the Trustees for review. To further improve the levels of service the RTF provides to you, the Trustees have approved the development of an online application process which will operate on the DRN. This development is intended to provide a paperless application process to streamline the approval process in order for members to receive loan funds as quickly as possible. The web-based application is in the advanced stages of development and is expected to come online early in the second half of 2007. Another enhancement approved by the Trustees is the removal of the ceilings for the maximum level of assistance you may receive throughout a member’s career, which means there is no upper limit to the total amount of loan assistance you may receive during your Naval Career.
