HELPING HANDS: PO Joann Swann’s son Regan helps with the pin work.

POWTR Joann Swann had three reasons to be surprised recently.

PO Swann is a Naval Reservist on CFTS working at DSCM in Canberra and is largely responsible for the administration of the large number of retention and completion bonuses for sailors and some officers.

Her first surprise was her promotion to CPOWTR by DSCM, CAPT Michael Noonan.

On hand to witness her promotion were her husband, CPOB William Swann and their two children.

After CAPT Noonan read PO Swann her charge of duties and responsibilities of a CPO her sons, Keenan and Regan, pinned on her badges of rank.

Her second surprise was the presentation of her Australian Defence Medal, but an even greater surprise awaited her. DGNPT, CDRE Nigel Coates, presented CPOWTR Swann with an Australia Day Medallion for her exemplary performance of service in the provision of support to DSCM in the formulation, administration and processing of all the current retention and completion bonus schemes that have been approved by the CDF.
