Bid to boost golf numbers

Volume 50, No.4, March 22, 2007

Boosting playing strength and encouraging women players will be the focus of the 2007 Australian Defence Force Cup at Wodonga Country Golf Club in North-East Victoria from April 18 to 20.

Over the past 25 years the event has been contested as the Defence Force Cup and the Royal Australian Army Ordnance Corps (RAAOC) Cup.

This year’s program incorporates the Australian Defence Force Golf Association North-East Victoria Regional Golf Championships and the 25th Royal Australian Army Ordnance Championships.

One of the organisers, Captain Paul Henry, said the event was open to all serving and retired ADF members of the three services, as well as Defence civilians and contractors.

He said entries were expected from Victoria, NSW, ACT and Queensland with organisers keen to increase the number of women participants this year.
