SEA CHANGE - Stellar survey reply

Volume 50, No.3, March 8, 2007

The Head of Sea Change implementation team, CDRE Clint Thomas, has thanked those who participated in the Navy Whole Ship OA Survey

On behalf of the Sea Change Implementation Team, (SCIT) I would like to express my appreciation to all personnel who participated in the Navy Whole Ship OA Survey.

The survey was conducted from late October through December 2006 and involved all personnel on all platforms.

I find it is extremely encouraging that 3,575 members responded to the survey which means that over 85 percent of personnel at sea completed the questionnaire.

In addition, the quality of the responses to survey questions was high and has provided valuable information concerning members’ jobs.

The survey responses will be used to identify the tasks performed both within and across departments in all ship classes, for the range of functions and activities that can be undertaken in or by a ship at various stages of the operational cycle.

The OA section of the Directorate of Strategic Personnel Planning and Research (DSPPR) has commenced analysing the obtained data to compile a comprehensive report to be submitted to CNSAC.

This report will provide pivotal information for future analysis as a part of the naval workforce renewal project within Sea Change.

Further feedback on how the survey data is being used will follow in future editions.

Uniform shortages update
Navy’s senior leadership is actively engaging the Defence Materiel Organisation to address our uniform shortages as a matter of urgency.

Parental entitlements review
One of the key areas of Sea Change is to keep our people informed about conditions of service issues. One of these conditions of service, relating to the entitlements for those with shared parental responsibilities, is about to be reviewed and the Sea Change Team strongly encourage you to have your say to the tri-service working group. It is only through your input that the true extent of the problem can be seen. More information can be found in 'ADF parents policy review goes ahead' in the 'Features' section.
