A team from the HMAS Cerberus Running Club has taken out the corporate
team category in the Sussan Womens Fun Run for the Breast Cancer
Network Australia.
The event was held on the St Kilda foreshore in Melbourne late last year.
ABMED Haley Park, ABCSOMW Tricia Muller and LEUT Debra Neil banded together
for this 10km charity run and were extremely proud of their success on
the day.
The conditions were ideal and it was fantastic to see a couple of personal
best times from the team.
When the girls were announced as the winners of the Corporate Team event,
their reaction showed that they were the most appreciative winners on
the day!
It was a fun and friendly atmosphere with over 4000 women participating
in this charity event.
The run is growing in popularity each year and is really becoming a celebration
of women in sport.
Along with the CERBERUS Running Club team, Defence entered at total of
6 womens teams in both the 5km and 10km event; three Army teams,
one RAAF team and the Cerberus Saltys Swimming Club, with one of
the Army teams taking out the Sporting Club winning prize in the 10km
event.
Once again the Navy has proven that they are the senior service, however
the main winner was the Breast Cancer Network Australia.
With over 35 women diagnosed with breast cancer daily in Australia, the
Sussan Womens Fun Run is instrumental in raising much needed funds
and awareness for this killer disease.
Breast Cancer Network Australias role is to empower, inform, represent
and link together Australians personally affected by breast cancer.
It is driven by women who have themselves experienced breast cancer and
represents more than 20,000 breast cancer survivors nationally.
