A ceremony of reflection was
conducted by HMAS Kanimblas ships company on December
7 to honour two Army colleagues killed when their Black Hawk
helicopter crashed into the sea during a training exercise.

Thomas joined HMAS Warramunga on station in the Gulf on November
22-23 to view the conduct of the Maritime Security Operations
(MSO) and in support of the V8 Supercar Championship Series

in the logs of many modern Navy ships but CDRE Peter Lockwood
encountered both during his recent stint as the head of Task
Force 158 command team in the Gulf.

Stirling
shines on open day
More than 2300 cars crossed the causeway plus
constant ferry trips from Rockingham, saw a crowd of more
than 10,000 people on Garden Island to visit HMAS Stirling
at their recent open day.

Stuart
marches with the clans
HMAS Stuart honoured her namesake by marching with the Scottish
Australian Heritage Council on November 26 in the annual March
of the Clans, from Martin Place to Hyde Park in Sydney. The
traditions and values established by the first HMAS Stuart
were passed down to her successors, HMAS Stuart (II) the River
Class Destroyer Escort and HMAS Stuart (III) Anzac Class Frigate,
commissioned in 2002.

The little known story about the RANs first loss at
sea which ranks as its oldest maritime mystery was recently
revealed in a television documentary seen by more than half-a-million
people.

the milestone of becoming the Navys first qualified

System (VLS) for the upgraded FFGs.

Ensign flies in Parramatta
With the approval of the Maritime Commander,
RADM Davyd Thomas, the Australian White Ensign was paraded
when the ships company of the Anzac Class frigate HMAS
Parramatta marched through the streets of her namesake city
to exercise the ships Freedom of Entry on November 18.

Squadron granted entry in Coffs Harbour
The strong bond between the NSW town of Coffs
Harbour and Nowra-based 805 SQN over the past two years culminated
in the granting of a Freedom of Entry ceremony on November
18, and a march through the city streets with swords drawn,
flags flying and band playing.
