Anti-submarine skills tested
Anzac Class frigates, Collins
Class submarines and combat aircraft from Australia and New
Zealand participated in a major exercise off Western Australia
that served to enhance interoperability and anti-submarine
warfare skills.

The ability of the RAN to successfully lead complex maritime
coalition security operations was demonstrated by CDRE Peter
Lockwood and his team of 22 Navy personnel, who enhanced the
Navys worldwide reputation for excellence while serving
as the Task Force 158 (TF-158) command team.

memorial honours our Sea King heroes
A poignant, living memorial commemorating the four members
of 817 Squadron who died in the Sea King accident was unveiled
in a ceremony conducted on November 10 and attended by the
Minister for Defence Dr Brendan Nelson, Chief of Navy Vice-Admiral
Russ Shalders, AO, CSC, RAN, and Maritime Commander Australia

NUSHIP Ararat (LCDR Paul
Ruhl) has commissioned into the fleet in front of a large
crowd at the Melbourne Docklands.

HMA Ships Albany and Dubbo recently joined hands with the
Indonesian Navy (TNI-AL) vessels KRI Layang and Kakap to conduct
Exercise Cassowary in the Timor Sea from November 13-19.

Farewell
to a loyal and devoted officer
The Navy paused to remember CMDR Ross Wendt
for his loyal and devoted service to the RAN after he was
killed tragically in a car accident in NSW in early November.
He was 61.
