Rankin Unloaded

Volume 49, No. 22, November 30, 2006

After returning from a lengthy overseas deployment and visiting several ports in Australia as part of a recruiting drive for the submarine service, HMAS Rankin finally reached her home port in Western Australia earlier this month. It was an emotional homecoming with plenty of family and friends on hand to welcome the Black Knight back to HMAS Stirling.

Within sight: HMAS Rankin's crew line the submarine as she returns to HMAS Stirling.
HANDLE WITH CARE: From the depths of the submarine, MK 48 torpedoes are unloaded alongside the ammunition wharf at HMAS Stirling.
NEARLY THERE: Rankin personnel man the conning tower as the Black Knight draws closer to the wharf.

DADDY’S HOME: Petty Officer Acoustic Warfare Analyst Submariner Jeremy Hammond with his daughter Miette.
ON TOP: Chief Petty Officer Electronic Technician Submariner Shaune Guppy puts his son Kade head and shoulders above the welcoming crowd.
END OF THE ROPE This HMAS Rankin crew member gets ready to come alongside.
