More care for our wounded

Volume 49, No. 21, November 16, 2006

An initiative to assist wounded ADF members and their families has been launched by the RSL & Services Clubs Association and the ADF.

Operation Care is a service to allow ADF personnel wounded in combat operations, who have been repatriated to Australia for further medical treatment, to spend up to one week with their immediate family in rest and recuperation.

The focus of the scheme is to assist wounded ADF members in their medical recovery and to provide their families the opportunity to be a part of that process.

The service is funded by the RSL & Services Clubs Association and provides recognition from the Veterans community for the sacrifice made by the current serving ADF personnel and their families.

Wounded ADF members who wish to participate in the scheme will be selected by a service panel and recommendations will be then submitted to the Benevolent Fund Board for consideration and approval. The board will make approvals for individuals based on their relative merits.
