SWISH: The new Sea Change logo. |
Volume 49, No. 18 , October 05, 2006
The Deputy Chief of Navy recently approved a new logo for the Sea Change program.
It was selected from a number of different designs submitted from internal and external sources.
The approved logo will now appear with articles and publications involving Sea Change initiatives.
It aims to provide this important program with an easily identifiable logo.
The approved logo was designed by the Manager of Navy Badges, Gary Kinkade.
The logo’s layout was designed around the Navy branding colours and style.
The main design element focuses on Navy people and the need for change.
It depicts two members looking towards the horizon.
This symbolises the move towards building a Navy for the future through the Sea Change program.
The horizon represents the way ahead - a focus point in the distance.
The addition of the term Sea Change gives impact and definition, and as the Macquarie dictionary defines it, Sea Change is a “profound transformation”.
This is the intent of the program, to make fundamental improvements to Navy’s manpower to improve retention.
The approved design details the positive approach adopted by Navy with the Sea Change program.
The Manager, Navy Badges is located in Campbell Park Offices in Canberra.
This section is responsible for the design of all badges.
This includes badges for commissioned ships, submarines, squadrons, establishments, major commands, non-commissioned establishments, organisations, and units within Navy.
A large amount of research and investigation is undertaken in the design of badges.
