Eager football fans from HMAS Cerberus and engineering undergraduates from RMIT took part in the annual Alfred Hospital Foundation collection during the RD 16 AFL match between Carlton and Essendon.
Uniformed collectors were stationed around the MCG before and during the game to collect on behalf of the foundation.
One of the collectors recalled that “he was amazed at the generosity of the crowd”.
The collectors were treated to a nail-biting draw and lunch for their efforts.
“It was an awesome game to watch and great to help out at the same time, I had a fabulous time,” SMN Shane Ritchie said.
