MC inducts batch of new recruits

An officer appointment ceremony on HMAS Parramatta (CMDR J. Mead) was always going to be something special in the careers of eight young officer candidates, but it became a day to remember when Maritime Commander Australia RADM Davyd Thomas swore them in.

RADM Thomas took the opportunity on Monday July 17 to conduct the appointment ceremony for the eight new recruits at FBE.

RADM Thomas said the new trend of conducting swearing-in ceremonies on warships made the appointment ceremony much more memorable.

“Your appointment today signifies your first step in a rewarding Navy career, and it is important for your family to be here so that they understand that your safety and wellbeing is of paramount importance to us,” RADM Thomas said.

The eight recruits sworn in by RADM Thomas included Arion Collins, David Eyles, Clare Thurling, Michael Pymble, Nischol Sethi, Keira Wilcox, Scott Shaw, and Michelle Sheekey.
