Ship to Shore glory shared

Volume 49, No. 10, June 15, 2006

Navy personnel could claim a share in the glory with Army representatives as both services won a brace of events at the annual Australian Defence Industries/HMAS Kuttabul Ship to Shore Fun Run and Power Walk on May 17.

Navy won both the men’s and women’s open power walks and Army won both the men’s and women’s open races.

The 77 competitors were drawn from all three services, defence civilians and the ADI to contest the 5km course on an undulating route around Garden Island.

PO Stephen Thorley, of JOICAUST, won the men’s open power walk in 36:16 and the women’s power walk was won by POWTR Lizzie Saunders, of HMAS , in a brisk 32:52.
