Navy’s best golfers will descend on the Wodonga Country Golf Club to contest the Australian Defence Force Cup from May 3-5.

This event was formerly known as the Defence Force Cup and the Royal Australian Army Ordnance Corps (RAAOC) Cup.

The 2006 event incorporates the Australian Defence Force Golf association North-East Victoria Regional Golf Championships and the 24th Royal Australian Army Ordnance Championship.
Capt Paul Henry said the event was open to all serving and retired ADF members, as well as defence civilians and Defence contractors.

The Australian Defence Force Cup will be played over 36 holes with Round 1 being held on May 4.
Organisers expect entries from throughout Victoria, NSW, the ACT and Queensland, and they are keen to increase the number of women participants this year.

In an effort to encourage golf within Defence and northeast Victoria, a novice category has been included in the Australian Defence Force Cup Competition. However, novice players will not be eligible to compete for prizes in the Australian Defence Force Golf Association Regional Handicap Championship or the RAAOC Cup Championship.

A maximum number of 120 players will be set for the first and second round of the championship, with first preference being given to serving and retired Defence members, Defence civilians and Defence contractors holding a current AGU or WGA handicap.

Throughout the Australian Defence Force Cup tournament, evening social events will be held at the nearby Bandiana Golf Club.
