In the tradition of mateship, LCDR Steve Dickfos recently dedicated his sixth win in the annual Burrell Cup Doubles Tennis competition to the late LEUT Craig King.

LEUT King, who lost his life four years ago after battling acute myeloid leukaemia, had successfully partnered LCDR Dickfos on three occasions.

This year saw 18 teams play a round robin event, with LCDR Steve Dickfos and LEUT Simon Levy (both of HMAS Albatross) playing Martin Butler and Glenn Connwell (both of the Kuttabul Medical Centre).
LCDR Dickfos and LEUT Levy managed to come up trumps.

In the other semi, LSCIS Robert Leak (HMAS Watson) and MUSN Alex O’Neill (Army Band) clashed with ABMT Aaron Shepherd and ABMT Gavin Williams (HMAS Kuttabul), with LSCIS Leak and MUSN O’Neill advancing to the finals.

The final saw a hard-fought win go to LCDR Dickfos and LEUT Levy, defeating LSCIS Leak and MUSN O’Neill, 6-2, 6-4.
The renowned Burrell Cup (Tennis Doubles) was first played and won by RADM Burrell CBE and SBLT Dickson in 1955.
