LEUT
Martin Radunz is living proof that one hard working sailor can help make a difference
to the Navys involvement in coalition maritime operations.
LEUT Radunz
recently received a Chief of Defence Force Commendation in acknowledgment of his
initiative, leadership and tireless devotion while carrying out his his duties
as the Special Sea Duty Officer of the Watch and Leading Boarding Officer in HMAS
Adelaide.
Maritime Commander Australia, RADM Davyd Thomas RAN recently
presented LEUT Radunz with the CDF Commendation signed by the then CDF General
Peter Cosgrove.
LEUT Radunz, 29, who has completed three-deployments to
the Persian Gulf, told Navy News that he was honoured to receive the CDF Commendation.
The
deployment was hard work but the highlight for me was leading the boarding parties
because they were very interesting and offered some excitement, LEUT Radunz
said.
The CDF Commendation praises LEUT Radunz for his dedication, teamwork
and willingness to accept responsibility in both his core role and his long list
of ancillary duties that directly lead to an increase in Adelaides operational
and administrative capability.
Your selfless example in volunteering
for or accepting these numerous ancillary duties has been an inspiration to others
and great support to your Commander, the CDF Commendations reads.
The
CDF Commendation said that LEUT Radunz consistently displayed the attributes of
an outstanding leader, exuding confidence and a willingness to command in all
situations.
Your leadership in the extreme conditions of the Persian
Gulf, and your can do attitude enabled you and your team to successfully
achieve every difficult and complex mission assigned, the commendation stated.
Your
integrity and enthusiasm for the Royal Australian Navy, its values and HMAS Adelaides
mission, stand you out as an exceptional Naval Officer
The CDF Commendation
said that LEUT Radunzs achievements were of the highest order and in keeping
with the finest traditions of the Royal Australian Navy and the Australian Defence
Force.
