Strong drives and consistent putting put Navy on the winning leaderboard, taking out last month’s WA interservice golf championships in Perth.

The Navy team were defending champions, and defend they did, with a hard fought victory over Army on Thursday, 7 games to 4. Several matches went to the 18th hole and beyond.

Great team spirit and the relentless will to win saw an emphatic 11-0 victory over arch rivals RAAF on the Friday, to see Navy take the 2005 title.
The team was well prepared by team manager, CPOPT Mark Klopper and captain, CPOCSM Gary Mason, who organised weekly trials and practice sessions for all team members.

The key to success was the tremendous team spirit shown by all players, the leadership and experience of the team captain, and the will for each player to do their best for the team.
Earlier in the week the annual WA tri-service championship event was held to decide the individual champions for 2005, with Navy once again victorious.

In gusty conditions CPO Gary Mason carded a fine 79 on a tough layout to be crowned WA tri-service champion for 2005. POCSS Greg Burgess was one shot in arrears carding a solid 80 to be crowned Navy champion for 2005.
Contested at the Yokine golf club, the course was presented in pristine condition with a soft touch on lightening fast greens.
