When flag Alpha flew at the Clearance Diving Team Four headquarters last month it was not to indicate divers in the water, but rather it was for a very special reason.

On Sunday August 7, AUSCDT FOUR hoisted the flag to demonstrate state of the art diving equipment and technologies to former clearance divers and their families and friends.

The Commanding Officer of AUSCDT FOUR, LCDR Steve Bliss, formally opened the day by welcoming approximately 70 guests and providing them with a comprehensive brief on the clearance diving branch of today.

The team compound displayed the large range of clearance diving equipment, associated support equipment and weapons used by CDTs. Team members proudly gave explanations on the operation of the current day equipment.

Under the supervision of the ‘on–watch divers’, family and friends were able to take a close inspection of the divers’ tools of the trade.

AUSCDT FOUR’s POB Dave Stopford attracted much keen interest from promising young divers with his display of Team weapons, scopes and night vision equipment. Later in the afternoon, guests were hosted to a traditional divers’ BBQ.

At the completion of the day, flag Alpha was reluctantly lowered, the spirits of the guests were as always, sky high.
