It is almost a year since Sea Change began and Navy News looks at some of the changes that have occurred.

Career management centers are now operating in FBW and Darwin, providing personnel with better access to career management.

CANSC and CWONSC have conducted ‘Fireside Chats’ with senior sailors and officers and will continue to do so. Frequently asked questions can be found at http://intranet.defence.gov.au/ navyweb/sites/navsyscom/

The Sea Change implementation management and reporting system (SCIMARS) provides visibility of all Sea Change initiatives and allows individuals to provide comments and recommendations via the feedback function.

HMAS Arunta is fully manned for the flexi-crewing trial and manning up Warramunga has commenced. The first progress report will be provided at the Navy Symposium in October. Chief of Navy has endorsed an accelerated promotion policy for promotion to PO, CPO and WO ranks.

This will facilitate early promotion of exceptional sailors with the skills, experience and ability to perform at the higher rank. The new policy is promulgated in DSCM WCA/WHC/Z4P 290654Z AUG 05. A review of duty watch practices in ships is currently being undertaken by MHQ with local focus group input.

If you have any comments on how duty watch practices (including force protection issues) can be improved contact your local focus group member or provide your feedback direct via SCIMARS. Focus groups, the SCIMARS feedback function and use of the Navy.

scit(at)defence.gov.au e-mail address are the means by which feedback can be provided..
