Seeing security in a new light

By CPL Cameron Jamieson

The Defence Security Authority (DSA) has announced the release of the revised Defence Security Manual (DSM) and its accompanying DSM Resource CD.

The Resource CD is a new initiative, and contains a number of useful tools such as a security practitioner’s guide, providing a quick reference of security tasks, security forms and templates, and a comprehensive glossary. A major change to the manual is the inclusion of the ‘Security Policy Statement’.

This statement provides an overarching framework for security in Defence and outlines Defence’s primary security objectives and the reasons why Defence must achieve them. The manual has been designed to be user-friendly and easy to read.

  • The manual can be accessed on-line through the Defence documents portal on the DEFWEB or through DSA’s web site http://intranet.defence.gov. au/dsa/DSM/DSM%20Content/DSM_1.htm
