HMAS Farncomb’s return
to FBW recently after a three-month voyage around Australia
was a joyous occasion for the crew and their families but
was a day of mixed emotions for the commanding officer CMDR

With a calm sea and the
sun shining, HMAS Canberra visited Adelaide last month, the
final visit in the frigate’s 24 years. Adelaide was the last
port in four and a half month deployment, which took Canberra
across six countries and 11 ports.

It was HMAS Geraldton
to the rescue last month when they lent a helping hand to
a yachtsman off the West Australian coast. The Patrol Boat
(LCDR R. Fonhof) was at anchor in Port Nelson off the WA coast
conducting patrol duties in support of OP RELEX II.

completed a Maintenance Window of Opportunity at FBE and has
sailed for New Zealand where the Adelaide class FFG will participate
in an exercise with the Royal New Zealand Navy.

Patrol from HMAS Newcastle skip through the white caps towards
a gathered Iraqi fishing fleet, the lead boat selecting a
vessel at random to board.
