HMAS Stirling is committed to help Rockingham Senior High School with its Maritime Studies program.

The school is recognized as one of two centres of excellence in maritime studies in Western Australia.

The Navy Systems Commander, CDRE Geoff Geraghty, and WA Deputy Director of Education and Training, Dr Margaret Banks, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at Stirling on July 8.

Personnel who work on Garden Island are an integral part of the local community and we aim to assist, where possible, to allow that community to grow and continue to contribute to its health, wealth and welfare.

The agreement formally recognizes the this help and organisers of the MOU say it will benefit both the Navy and the school.

Stirling’s contribution will include project and research opportunities, work experience, the provision of guest lecturers and Naval representation at Rockingham Senior High events such as graduation ceremonies.

Defence serves Australia in many ways.

This support is part of our commitment in the local area.
