Military muscle from Navy, Army and Air Force will be on display at the eighth annual Australian Defence Force Natural Bodybuilding - Figure Titles 2005 at the HMAS Cerberus on Monday, September 26.

The interservice titles will be held at the base’s Southern Cross cinema, to begin at 1900. Organiser POPT Jeff Kerr said individual trophies and awards will be available as well as the Inter- Service team trophy.

“Competition categories include various Male Bodybuilding, and Female Figure classes,” he said.

“These classes will be divided into various height categories and a veterans class for men (40+ years of age) and women (35+ years of age) is also available.

“A full two-hour show has been programmed to be exciting and fun. There will be plenty of audience participation and it is an event that the whole family can enjoy.

“Not only will the competitors be awarded prizes, but the audience can also win some prizes. The competitors are inspiring, the music is up-beat, and the audience will be encouraged to get involved with loud, positive, vocal enthusiasm.

“Promoting a healthy lifestyle, great entertainment, and having some fun are the main objectives of this event.”

PO Kerr said the competition is supported and judged by officials from the International Natural Bodybuilding Association (INBA).

“It is an amateur event and beginner/ novice competitors are encouraged to enter,” he said. The camaraderie and support by all the competitors both on stage and back stage make it a pleasure to get involved in this event.

Every single competitor that we have had on stage at past competitions has enjoyed this event very much.”

PO Kerr added that the ADF Bodybuilding Titles were a good starting point or stepping stone for people wishing to move on to more competitive civilian competitions.

Tickets are $5 each and are available at the door or from the Cerberus Gymnasium.

People interested in helping to sponsor the event or an entry form and competitors information kit should contact PO Kerr at the Gymnasium, HMAS Cerberus, on 03 5950 7553, fax 03 5950 7927 or email: Jeff.Kerr@defence.gov.au.
