Golf and hockey have dominated recent sporting events at HMAS Stirling.

The Stirling Golf Open was held at the Kwinana Golf Club, while an Interservice hockey competition was also staged.

It was “game on” for hockey at HMAS Stirling on April 21.

Due to ship commitments the Navy’s side consisted of both Navy and RAAFpersonnel. However, Army proved too good on the day with a 2-nil victory.

The event’s organizer LS Corbett said he was extremely happy with the team’s efforts.

“Most of the people in our side had never played together before, and we are looking forward to our next match against the Army in the coming months,” he said.

At the golf, the emphasis was on fun, with lots of prizes up for grabs.

A field of 50 players took part.

Winner of the Stirling Open was CPOCSM Gary Mason, while the Visitor’s Trophy was won by Tim Ayling and the Callaway Trophy by LSBM Craig Lat
