HAPPY
DAYS: LCDR Pat Davitt with his Seahawk helicopter at the
Australian War Memorial open day on May 7.
|
The
Australian War Memorial (AWM) held its first open day in three
years on May 7 and Defence was there in force to support it.
From Iraquois and Sea Hawks to the Red Berets and an ASLAV the
day was a huge success for all involved.
Overall there was more than 13,000 visitors to the AWM and many
of them got to get up close and personnel with Defence equipment
rarely seen in the capital.
LCDR Pat Davitt of 816 Squadron said of the day, “I quite enjoy
the airshow and public events and having the opportunity to showcase
the aircraft.
We’re proud of what it can do and what we do in Nowra and today
gives the public a chance to see what we have and what we can
do.
Most public don’t have any idea.”
