It is fitting that a book relating to the history of one of our “more colourful” ships, the River-class frigate, HMAS Diamantina, should be launched in the year of its 60th anniversary of its commissioning into the Royal Australian Navy on April 27, 1945.

Poignant railway pilgrimage -History
It was an especially poignant Anzac Day for 21 members of HMAS Warramunga ship’s company, who commemorated the occasion at Hellfire Pass on the infamous Burma-Thailand railway.
