HMAS Manoora (CMDR Andrew Rourke) was the venue at Fleet Base East when sailors joined an enthusiastic team from Oz Aerobics to perform their routine exercises on board.

“It was a lot harder than it looks,” said SMNMT Brent Johnson.

“I found myself improving and really getting into some of the moves,” added ABMT Allan Gill.

The popular TV viewing and video aerobic exercise program was conceived in 1986 in Sydney and has 20 million viewers around the world.

“Even with all my recruit school parade and PT training I found it difficult at times to keep in pace,” said a surprised SMNMT Luke Falla.

It is not the first time that the popular all women aerobics team has performed on an RAN ship.

“We were doing a routine once when a Navy helicopter landed on the deck,” said Principal Instructor June Jones.

The aerobics day was organised by Public Affairs at Garden Island, Raveena Carroll and Alicia Miriklis. MIDN Caitlin McLeod from Manoora acted as sea mother for the group on the day.

The Manoora filming is expected to be released in July.
