Great improvers

Navy’s women turned the tables when they beat Air Force 3-9-27 to 1-1-7 to take on traditional rivals Army at the recent 2005 National ADF Australian Football championships.

And, despite losing to Army by 63 points in the final, Navy coach CPO Jennings from HMAS Cerberus was upbeat about the results.

“It was a tremendous improvement over last year,” he said.

“Last year we struggled to get a full side and only four of them are back this year.

We did have another six or seven who wanted to come but were unable to so. Our numbers are increasing, so in time quality of play will improve.

“It took the girls a while to get the game together and that showed in the match against Air Force.”
