Lieutenant Jeff Moon and Petty Officer Mezz Slavic and their
team “Mixed Nuts” crushed their opposition in the 18-hour mountain
bike endurance event, Endurofest, over the weekend of February
26- 27.
“We didn’t know we were in the lead in our category until about
four hours into the race,” LEUT Moon said.
LEUT Moon and PO Slavic along with CPL Rob McManus, a RAAF PTI,
and Defence civilian Rob Sharp, from Wagga, completed 30 laps
in 17 hours 32 minutes.
A swathe of local bands and DJs accompanied the event, run similar
to a motocross enduro where one team member completes a lap
before the next can begin.
LEUT Moon and PO Slavic now have their sights set on Jarraquest,
a 48-hour adventure race in June, the 24- hour Mont in October,
and an Exped race in Tasmania next February.
