Against
a postcard backdrop the personnel based at HMAS Cairns Gathered
en-masse in pristine white for Divisions on February 23.
Maritime Commander RADM Rowan Moffitt, inspected the near 500
strong parade, which was covered by the local news and television
media.
During his address, several awards were presented including commendations
for the personnel involved in the rescue of WOB Chill in the Solomon
Islands last year.
“The Australian public hear more of your exploits than they see
of them and it gives me great pride to have the media present
today,” RADM Moffitt said.
RADM Moffitt praised the efforts of returned personnel who comprised
the Iraqi Defence Training Team and the unsung, yet vital work
of the hydrographic survey ships.
“It gives me enormous pride in parading you all before the people
of Australia,” RADM Moffitt said.
