Darwin’s Naval contingent were proudly on display for Maritime Commander’s Divisions, held in Darwin on February 22.

On the hardstand, Fremantle Class Patrol Boat HMAS Dubbo, served as an impressive backdrop for over 200 sailors on parade in the Drydock “Shed”.

The parade consisted of Ship’s Companies from Fremantle Class Patrol Boats: HMA Ships Cessnock, Gawler and Dubbo, as well as personnel from FIMA, Shoal Bay receiving station and HMAS Coonawarra.

Maritime Commander, RADM Moffitt told the sailors and officers of the continuing Naval commitments for 2005.

This busy schedule was one of the reasons why so few of the 600-plus Naval personnel posted to Darwin, were on parade that day.

The Navy band provided ceremonial music with HMAS Coonawarra CHAP Barrie Yesburg reading prayers.

RADM Moffitt presented several awards, including the Pakistan Shield to Commanding Officer of HMAS Balikpapan, LEUT Barry Learoyd.

The Australia Day medal was presented to Lisa Lay from the Patrol Boat Group, a commendation to CPO Mick Welsh and an PBFEG achievement award to POMT Chris Ware.
