Just wondering if there is any truth to the rumour that the RAN are getting two more Armidales?

If so, is there any possibility to name one HMAS Katoomba.

The first HMAS Katoomba served as a Bathurst class ship in WWII and served afterwards until 1958 (according to my research).

Also, I seem to remember that there was an earlier HMAS Katoomba which served around the time of the colonial navies, but I can’t seem to find much info on this.

Secondly, I’d also like to suggest the name HMAS Defiant.

Since the Navy is looking at keeping a commonality with historic ships of the past, then why not place one with a fictional past?

HMAS Defiant was the ship in the TV series Patrol Boat.
