ADF
v QLD Under 19s Nov 18
The ADF Cricket team was hit for six by the Queensland Under
19s at the Brisbane Grammar Sports Fields on November 18.
The ADF fell 88 runs short of 288 set by the Queensland under
19s.
Opening for the ADF were Army’s CAPT Marty White and PTE Matt
Lee. White was dismissed LBW for a duck while Lee added just
12 to the scoreboard.
The pressure was on AB Tim Wildin who made 100 runs against
Army and 50 against the RNZAF earlier in the week. Wildin put
on a show belting two sixes, four boundary balls and a few singles
for good measure.
But the show was all sold out when Wildin’s run was cut short
caught in square leg for 39 runs.
The Queensland fielders caught out five more ADF batsmen, avenging
the first innings dismissal of standout batsman 17 year old
Queenslander Graham Skennar, who made 115 off 100 balls before
being caught by SBLT Matt Minahan-Ryan (RAN).
AC Adam Bosworth came in at the 33rd over making 50 off 54 balls,
and with 12 balls to go the temperature had reached boiling
point as his fellow batsmen kept falling to the relentless Queenslanders.
ADF vice captain FLTLT Steve O’hara joined Bosworth in the final
over but was bowled out, leaving Bosworth the last man standing,
finishing the innings with 64 runs.
ADF
2nd XI v RNZAF Nov 18
The
ADF 2nd XI cricketers belted the RNZAF clear over the fence
by 32 runs at the Brisbane Grammar sports fields on November
18.
The ADF 2nd XI’s first innings started shakily with opening
batsman FLTLT Lloyd Selleck (RAAF) caught out for duck in the
first over.
Fellow
opening batsman vice captain CPL Michael Gunn RAAF) replied
by adding 38 runs to the scoreboard, before being bowled out
by New Zealander LAC Brett Cunningham.
LS Luke Grimmond (RAN) made 50 runs off just 19 balls after
a dark spell in which the RNZAF took three more wickets. LS
Grimmond added four more for the ADF 2nd XI before lunch when
he and SGT Geoff Ingram (Army) batted out 8-249.
Opening the second innings RNZAF batsman CPL Darren Grant was
caught out for a duck by CPL Ian Chattin (Army), a harsh blow
for the New Zealanders as Grant had scored 70 runs against the
Army in a losing match on November 16.
RNZAF batsman LAC Kim Beaven lifted the spirits of the visitors,
pairing with CPL Mason Robinson.
The partnership hit a 6 as well as 7 boundaries between them
before PTE Leigh Odermatt (Army) bowled Robinson for 22 runs.
Chattin then caught Beaven for 42 and RNZAF Batsman FLGOFF Graham
Burnnand took the crease. Odermatt took two more wickets but
Burnnand looked like staying as he scored a quick 45 runs, but
the skilful bowling of Odermatt and CPL Jamie Pitt (Army) kept
Burnnand at bay, his run rate dropping drastically.
The Australians took seven more wickets and the RNZAF were bowled
out in the 47th over 10-217.
Anzac
XI v QLD Under 19’s Nov 19
The
Anzac XI cricketers failed to break the momentum of the Queensland
Under 19’s at the Brisbane Grammar Sports Fields on November
19, bowled out 10-172 in 48 overs.
CPL Darren Grant (RNZAF) opened for the Anzacs, but caught out
for a duck in the first over.
This left fellow opener CPL Michael Gunn (RAAF) to put 21 runs
on the Anzac scoresheet.
The superior fielding of the Queenslanders kept the Anzacs pinned
down, catching four more out, including AB Tim Wildin and LS
Shane White who managed to score 28 and 29 runs respectively.
New Zealanders FLGOFF Graham Burnnand and LAC Kim Beavan showed
courage under fire, Beavan adding 29 runs for the Anzacs and
Burnnand making 56 runs before being dismissed.
But Queensland was too strong for the Anzacs, running out LS
Luke Grimmond (RAN) with two overs to spare leaving Navy’s WO
Gary Fuss with 3 runs not out.
In the second innings, opening bowler Mark Chadwick (RNZAF)
made a promising start, bowling out star batsman Queenslander
Graham Skennar, for just 9.
The
Anzacs captured two m wickets after Skennar, thank the quick
hands of wicket ke FLGOFF Burnnand.
But it was too late wit Queenslander Andy Michae paving the
way to Queenslands victory, retiring with the highest score
of 63 runs.
Queensland declared at 3-173. It was the first time an Anzac
side had been formed in this competition, selected from the
Navy, RAAF and Army teams and RNZAF, following the nat competition.
