Sharps hard to beat in WA Softball

Team B-Sharps, FIMA SDC, came out on top of this year’s hardfought Fleet Base West (FBW) Softball competition.

All 11 teams competing for the coveted trophy came from HMAS Stirling.

Building 18 (FIMA) had four teams nominated and all members had been training hard, honing their skills leading up to the event.

SMFEG also have a good sporting pedigree and were not going to be easy to beat.

WOPT Allan Von Senden and CPOPT Mark Klopper made fair calls all day behind the keeper’s plates, despite appeals to the contrary from some enthusiastic competitors.

The Plate Final was contested between The Deep Sea Racing Prawns (Wardroom) and Swingers (FIMA). The Deep Sea Racing Prawns held on for a close win 19- 16.

In the Cup Final, B-Sharps played NFI (SMFEG) in a tight game that could have gone either way.

B-Sharps held on for a 15-11 win.

CO HMAS Stirling, CMDR Philip Orchard presented the winning teams with their trophies and glasses.
