Former
Chief of Defence Force and three-time recipient of the Order of
Australia, Admiral Alan Beaumont, passed away last month after
a long battle with illness.
A memorial service was held in Canberra on September 28. ADML
Beaumont’s impressive career began in 1948.
He served in senior posts including the Assistant Chief of Defence
Force from 1988 - 1992 and Vice Chief of the Defence Force 1988-92.
He was promoted to Admiral in 1993 and commenced his appointment
as Chief of Defence Force.
He retired from this role in 1995.
