Imagine hurtling headlong down a bush track on a mountain bike,
or battling the
raging torrents of a furious river in a canoe, or even throwing
yourself from the precarious heights of a sheer cliff face with
nothing but a rope to stop you.
The closest most people get to ever experiencing these breathtaking
scenarios is while watching the latest Hollywood blockbuster.
However, a dedicated team working from a small office located
at Training Centre West in HMAS Stirling can bring these exhilarating
experiences to life for any Western based department or unit.
These people are passionate about their work in providing units
with customised adventure programs, whether it be as localised
as a high ropes team building exercise, or as broad as a week
long crusade in the bush.
Yet it’s not just technical prowess and superior organisational
skills that are required to undertake such tasks.
WOPT Allan Von Senden and POPT Jason Duncan possess a high degree
of creativity, which is integral when designing a unique program
necessary to achieve the goals requested by the customer.
The implementation of these exercises would be impossible without
the assistance of ABCD Travis Wray and CPOCIS Alan “Nobby” Clark.
