The 2004/2005 Navy surfing season kicks off next month at Eloura beach with competition in the Long and Shortboard divisions.

The first heat will hit the water at 10am on September 1, with registrations open from 9.30am.

Earlier this month 27 competitors descended on Eloura beach for the Navy surf association club contest hoping for some thumpers but it was not to be.

Lakelike conditions squashed the expectations of competitors and so ended the 2003/ 2004 season.

Surfers wanting to surf in the September competition should notify contest organisers and ring for confirmation of event conditions on August 30.

Members are also reminded that annual subscriptions are now due and will be collected on the day.
