Making
his farewell appearnce with the ACT mbined Services squad, bowler
LS Mark Tapper showed stamina and skill to claim the Masters trophy
at the ADF
Tenpin
Bowling Association’s National championships last month.
The top 15 bowlers qualified in the Masters events and competed
in head-to-head playoffs, which saw Mark face friend and fellow
ACT bowler Flight Sergeant Paul Logan in the final.
It took three games to decide the winner with both players digging
deep for the tournament’s top prize. It was the final game that
saw Mark find the pocket when it counted to become the Masters
Champion of 2004.
Teams from five states assembled at the Belconnen Centre, Canberra,
to compete in the annual singles, teams, and Masters competitions.
NSW again emerged as State Champions, with ACT the runner-up.
In the singles competition, RAAF bowler Sergeant Mark Seagrave
from Williamtown dominated with an impressive 198 average over
10 games.
The Nationals were conducted with the customary high standard
and healthy interstate rivalry, as this growing approved Service
sport continues to attract enthusiastic ADF and Reservist bowlers.
Victoria will host the 2005 Nationals next June.
