In Melbourne, you know the annual Defence Lake Attack run or walk for charities is getting close, when

Defence personnel begin stripping off and recruit one of the World’s foremost experts on physical well being.

Sue Stanley, three times World Aerobic Champion and twice Australian Olympic gymnastics representative, recently bounced in to provide tips on physical fitness and aerobic performance, during a recent training run around Melbourne’s Albert Park Lake.

Shortly after last month’s launch of the 22nd annual Defence Lake Attack to be held on May 30, fitness supremo and national media identity Sue Stanley, who also holds the title of Ms Fitness World Champion, offered some spirited assistance to members from Joint Logistics Command (JLC).

The Lake Attack, sponsored by Exel, hopes to raise in excess of $50,000 for charities involved in assisting children and families in need.

The beneficiaries are Legacy; The Malcolm Sargent Cancer Fund for Children; The Compassionate Friends, and Kidsafe Child Accident Prevention Foundation.

Since 1982, one of the primary objectives of the Defence community in Victoria has been to raise funds for charity organisations.

Entrants in the Lake Attack will have the choice of running or walking as an individual, or forming a family, friends or work-place relay team.

The relay team format encourages participation by all-age entrants from school children to older citizen groups.

Over the years, the relay evolved into a series of charity focused events and more recently has become a charity run or walk
for the public, around Albert Park Lake.

Electronic entry forms are available on www.lakeattack.com.”
